Accessibility Statement
Bridging the Gap wants everyone to be able to use our website, including people with disabilities, older adults, people using screen readers or other assistive technology, and people reading English as an additional language.
Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We built accessibility into the site from the start, rather than adding it afterwards.
What we have done
- Readable text. Body text is at least 18 pixels with generous line spacing, and we use a typeface designed for readers with low vision.
- Strong contrast. Text and buttons meet or exceed WCAG AA contrast ratios against their backgrounds.
- Keyboard access. You can reach every link, button, and form field with a keyboard, and a visible outline shows where you are.
- Clear forms. Every form field has a written label linked to it, and required fields are marked.
- Images. Meaningful images have text descriptions.
- Plain language. We write for families in plain language.
- Page structure. Headings follow a logical order so screen reader users can move through the page.
Known limitations
Some parts of the site may not yet fully meet our goal, and we keep working to improve it. The site is currently available in English only. We plan to add translations in the future.
